The 2025 Art of the City Scholarship welcomed the graduating classes of 4 local high schools to explore this year's theme, SELF.
The 2025 Creatives examined the theme of SELF through every lens — Discovering and detailing relationships between themselves and the world around us, Creatives found SELF in everyday moments & unexpected places.
Congratulations to the graduating classes of 2025 — We're honoured by the opportunity to support our local students, and wish them our best as they continue their Creative journeys!

Our 2024 Creatives pushed their artistic boundaries in the pursuit to exemplify
CHAOS. Students explored the way CHAOS is inevitable — through the mundane or the extraordinary, whether embraced or challenged.
This year's submissions showcased the greatest range of artistic mediums we've seen yet, and we are thrilled by the incredible talent and creativity displayed by this year's Creatives.
We're honoured to have the opportunity to support our fellow Creatives and wish the graduating classes of 2024 endless inspiration in their pursuits!
We are so inspired by the creativity, interpretation and conceptualization of this year’s theme, HOPE. From poems to embroidery, sculptures to paintings, the 2023 Creatives demonstrated exceptional artistic talent and imagination.
A progression from the 2022 theme UNITY, we are inspired by the many interpretations of HOPE through original art pieces. The creatives have taken HOPE and explored, defined and deconstructed it.
We offer our sincerest congratulations to the 2023 Art of the City Scholarship Creatives, and wish them all the best in their future artistic endeavours!

We are so proud to have launched our Art of the City Scholarship in 2022. For our premiering year's theme, we chose: UNITY.
From fashion to film, and everything in between, each submission was an incredible journey as Semiahmoo Secondary's students explored, deconstructed and demonstrated the concept of UNITY and what it means to them.
We are incredibly grateful for every submission received in our inaugural year and we couldn't be more proud of our fellow creatives.

reflection
“Self means deep inner reflection to me. It's who you are on the inside and show to the world. It's a very personal word.”

unreflective windows
“Self is when you can look back at all the different versions of who you have been... but still either appreciate or even just accept what came your way.”

freedom in constraints
“For me, self represents understanding: understanding of who I was, who I am now and who I will be in the future.”
